At first there have to be many meetings with a lot of talking about how to achieve the desired printing quality, the first printing step when the proof-plates are created to get an idea of the final colours, discussion about the sizes and measurements of the cover to have them in the same size of the other Praytome Publishing products and much more …
In the third part of our "Making Of" documentary you can accompany the production team from imporant conversations in the run-up of the printing process to the next step of the production at "Merlin Ltd" in Dortmund, Germany. Again, this video shows that a lot of different steps of work by many people have to be done before you hold the final product in your hand. And it is very important to co-operate with professionals if your main goal is to have a close to perfect product in the end.
In the fourth part of our "Making Of" documentary we give you an inside view on the production steps at the printing company "Dassel Druck" in Arnsberg / Germany. At this point the printing plates - which were produced last week in the 3rd part of the making of - were used in combination with the 4 basic colours to produce the sheets for the book. The printing process is an extensive and difficult work because all 4 printing plates have to be adjusted precisely because otherwise you will get only blurry pictures because of a faulty grid pattern.
In the 5th part of the "Making Of" of Elvis On Tour ' 75 you will learn some interesting details and will be able to get an inside view on the different production steps at the bindery. The printed sheets from the printing company will be folded, sorted, packed and joined together while the back gets an extra portion of glue, and finally the marriage of hardcover envelope and the content pages, shrink-wrapping and finally the packing into boxes for shipping.
